Counselor Connection
Collaboration is essential for school counselors. This mini-blog is for my counselor colleagues to share ideas, lessons and inspiration
I've recently had counselors contacting me asking for my lessons on Sean Covey's 7 Habits. I'm happy to share those with you all. For the last two years I have taught the 7 Habits of Happy Kids to my 3rd graders. (lessons can easily be adapted to other grade levels) I love the way this book takes the 7 Habits and puts them into children's stories that they can understand. I created complete lessons based on these stories. The book can be purchased for less than $10 on Amazon. I have also taught the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens to our 6th graders. (again, these lessons can be adapted to other grade levels). The 6th grade English teacher and I co-created these power point based lessons. As you are reviewing these power points, be sure to note that we utilized youtube videos quite often. In the notes section you should be able to see which slides have a link to a video. These lessons are by no means perfect, but they are a good starting point for anyone wanting to teach the 7 Habits to their students. If you have questions or notice that something is missing as you get started feel free to email me at [email protected].

Also, do you have the cards to use for Habit 5 that the students will use to practice the steps of listening? LOVE all of the 3rd grade lessons and can't wait to implement them as a school counselor :)

I am on the middle of my counseling program. But my daughter's teacher and principal asked me if I can help them. This is a private school and don't have the finances to have an official school counselor. I told them that I will help them as much I can. I got my B.A. on Psychology and I know I need a lot of help so I can help them. I been looking for kindergarten lessons plan. The school is having a hard time with one student, and the school is trying to support the parent because is a single mom. Also because many of the other students been affected. Please help me with some resources or let me know where or how I can purchases. I am doing this on my own and with my own finances.

On behalf of everyone who has benefited and not commented here, THANK YOU. I never comment on these things (shamefully) but you deserve the ultimate shout-out for making these available for free. I'm so grateful and will be using both sets with my 4/5th graders because they are both fantastic. Amazing work! I'm sure everyone else is equally grateful but hasn't had time to say thank you. Thank you!
