Mrs. Willard's Statement of Philosophy
Mrs. Willard believes that all students:
Are capable of success. NO EXCEPTIONS!
Have dignity and self-worth
Have the right to participate in the counseling program regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, culture or special needs.
Have access to a school counseling program, designed and coordinated by a Master Level Counselor who is certified by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction
And the Franklin High School Comprehensive Counseling Program should:
Be developmentally appropriate for all students in grades 9-12 and be aligned with the academic, career and social/emotional domains of the American School Counselor Association National Model.
Be planned and coordinated by the school counselor in coordination with other district counselors, parents or guardians and community representatives.
Utilize the many combined resources of the community to deliver programs
Use data to drive program development and evaluation
Actively involve teachers and administrators to monitor students’ results.
Advocate for all students, including underrepresented student populations to guarantee equitable access to educational resources and programs that ensure academic and social success.
Continuously monitor counseling program goals, school goals and student results.
And that the school counselors at Franklin High:
Be evaluated annually in coordination with the counseling supervisor and site principal on specified goals and agreed upon student competencies.
Abides by the American School Counselor Association Ethical Standards.
Takes proactive and preventative measures through guidance lessons and support groups to diminish the amount of interventions needed.
Collaborates with many school and community resources to support the needs of our students.
Audits the program annually to verify validity and results.
Uses data to create and support school goals and goals for individual students.
Seeks professional development based on the program assessment needs.
